Decision Builder

ARS Decision Builder lets you build, present and evaluate lists of important issues using sophisticated yet easy-to-use prioritization techniques.

With Decision Builder, you can create and present three kinds of critical information in an interactive process that is both efficient and highly engaging for your decision-making audience:

  1. Decision Lists of up to 20 goals, issues, choices or other items that you want group members to place in priority order. These items can be developed ahead of time, or created 'on-the-fly' in a brainstorming session with your participants.
  2. Criteria by which list items are to be evaluated, such as "Importance", "Satisfaction" or "Feasibility".
  3. Demographics of the participants, which can optionally be used to 'filter out' and display responses for various audience sub-groups as an aide to interpreting your results.

Decision Builder provides two unique methods for combining and presenting the lists and criteria you create:

Paired Weighting is a rigorous and bias-free method of list prioritization that presents all possible unique pairs of list items in a random order. Participants evaluate the items in each pair according to the criterion you specify, and select the one that they favor. After all item pairs have been polled, the prioritization is computed from the number of times each item was selected by the combined audience. Because the number of pairs, and thus the timed required to poll them, increases dramatically as the size of the list grows, Paired Weighting is ideal for prioritizing lists with a relatively small number (5 to 9) of items.

Effectively prioritize short lists of critical items using the sophisticated Paired Weighting process of evaluation.

Ordinal Rating provides an efficient and effective method of prioritizing longer lists, by rating each item on a numeric scale based on a criterion such as 'Importance'. With this process, a list of ten items can be prioritized using just ten audience polls, as compared to 45 polls for the same list using paired weighting. Special care must be taken when using Ordinal Rating, however, to minimize bias that can occur with this statistically less rigorous process.

Prioritize longer lists efficiently using Ordinal Rating on a numeric rating scale.

The results of both these processes can be displayed and combined in several graphic formats, including:

  1. Ranked List
  2. Comparative Bar Graph
  3. Bar Graph (Vertical or Horizontal)
  4. Opportunity Map
Ranked List

Comparative Bar Graph

Clearly display results of Decision Making sessions in an interactive graphic format.

Bar Graph (Vertical or Horizontal)

Opportunity Map

Analyze results from lists prioritized using two related criteria with the unique Opportunity Map display.

All results displays can be demographically filtered using standard wInquiry response filtering features. Results of your list prioritization's can also be printed from within the Decision Builder module.

Best of all, Decision Builder processes can be built right into a standard wInquiry polling session, to give you the maximum power and flexibility in designing your interactive meetings!
